the second wifey.

second wifey? yep, you heard me right.  my hubby really loves his 2nd wifey... stares at her all day long, talks to her, plays with her, holds her, adores her.  --  who is she??  hubby's iPhone.  and she was the center of attention last night.

kaila hosted an epic {the word hubby chose - yay!} bowling birthday bash for her daddy's BIG 3-0 birthday yesterday.  it was hard to keep K quiet from spoiling the surprise, but hubby sure was surprised! 30 friends, unlimited pizza & soda, a game of bowling (with an amazing prize dangling in front of them), and a cake from his 2nd wifey made it a memorable night.  hubby = happy --> happy wifey.  2nd wifey was happy as well.  here she is in all her glory.

some of hubby's favorite apps.
thanks to Luscious Layers for another stunning & delicious cake!

happy 30th birthday hubby.  we love you.  all 3 of us.  ;)

can we go back in time...please?

this weekend was one of the longest weekends i have ever experienced...
and not a "great-i-did-so-many-fun-things" long weekend, but a "terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad" long weekend.
our miss k is sick.
fevers that won't break, a terrifying cough where her insides feel like they are coming up, and sleepless nights filled with crying is just a taste of our lives these last few days...
why is it so heartbreaking to see your little one in pain that all you want to do is take away her germs and smear it all over your body to make the little buggies go away?

it may seem like all i do is complain... but i promise you i can be a very happy person!
this is what i wish we could be doing right this minute.

go away black clouds.

it has been a loooong time since i have posted....
after a week of sun in LA & Maui, the family is back to its old routine.
and it is kicking me in the butt!
i can barely keep my eyes open from pure exhaustion.
it has been discouraging... one moment i'm enjoying life with all the guilty pleasures of doing absolutely nothing but have the warm sun on my face and then BAM!  back to the real world with 24 hour shifts & long days... days where nothing is going right.

when i see this pic though, i can't help but giggle.

new year traditions

growing up, we did the korean "sebae" year after year.
we would wear our colorful korean hanboks & bow to our elders wishing them many blessings in the new year.  we were then rewarded with new year money - all those crisp dollar or even hundred dollar bills as a kid was pretty exciting!

now that our kaila is old enough, we taught her how to "sebae" and she was a pro!
she kept bowing and bowing...

K was skeptical at first.
she decided to give it a try.
her graceful bow.  we were proud parents at this moment. :)
K was proud of herself, too.  :)
K decided she deserved a clap.
she cracks me up!
LOVE family traditions.  don't you?

holiday card in making...

our family is the BEST procrastinator.
we can win any competition on who will wait til the last minute to do something.
so when it came to making our holiday card this year, we definitely waited until it was almost too late.
of course we missed the opportunity to ask a professional photographer to take our family photos.
so what do we do in a time crunch?  use a self-timer!!
this was NO easy task.
here are our outtakes... enjoy!

monster daddy stole all the blanket.
daddy just looks silly. and daddy would be jealous of the mother-daughter moment going on here. ;)
kaila following daddy's craziness...
the theme of our outtakes: daddy ruining the pics.
yep.  now daddy looks creepy.
we tried attacking kaila with kisses...
kaila got tired of daddy's "chandler" poses.
so kaila kept trying to escape.
the photo that should have made the final cut, but didn't...
will show you what photos we used for our minted holiday card from our limited selection tomorrow!  :)

the residency blues

after a long 16-hour work day, i was 20 minutes shy of having the day off tomorrow. instead, i am rewarded a full 10 or 12 hour work day.  measly 20 minutes = sad mommy.  it's the worst feeling when you expect something nice and it's taken away from you.  i was daydreaming about all the fun things a mommy-daughter day can bring about... but POOF! 09:40pm - surgery ends and my next day turns into a dr.mommy day.

so to cheer me up, here's a pic of good ol' family bonding time we shared this past weekend at millennium park...picnic on the lawn during country music festivities & a walk around the bean... i love chicago.

when's the last time you took a family pic?? we definitely need to take more!

kaila withdrawal

for 4 days, i will only get to see my baby girl for 4 whole hours.
i have shed a lot of tears watching my baby girl grow up from a distance, but i am trying to fight through this! but it still hurts - like tonight, when she refused to come into my arms because she wanted her stay-at-home-daddy to put her to sleep. i know i should understand a baby becomes attached to people they see the most, but my heart still breaks every time. i love this girl too much. don't worry though, there are times when all she wants is her mommy - moments i treasure.
to prevent a bad kaila withdrawal, here's a fun time we had at the beach this summer.

the BEST sahd (stay at home daddy)

my baby love
